5 Good And Simple Things You Can Do If You Are Afraid To Start Something

Fear is one thing that everyone may face from time to
time whether it's in their work, business, or personal life. Everyone probably has
their fears. But what makes successful people different from unsuccessful people?
Successful people learn to embrace their fears! If you desire growth, you'll
need to learn how to overcome your fears.
At every stage of your life, you may have fears. If you
have goals and dreams you wish to accomplish, there are healthy forms of fear
that can help you and keep you safe. For example, if you see a dangerous animal,
you may avoid it altogether. But when fear limits you from starting something
new; then this can be unhealthy because you have allowed fear to hinder your
personal growth. Fear will have crippled you and can negatively affect your
growth.
This can be especially true if you're starting
something new that you have no clue about. Maybe you're trying to lose some
weight with a new technique. Or, you want to change your career to another
field that’s entirely unrelated.
Trying new things can be very scary but it doesn't mean the fear of starting new should limit you. If trying out new things helps you accomplish your goal, then go for it. But some people are afraid to go for what they want.
Here are five things you must do to conquer fear and
intimidation to help you start something new:

1.
Identify Your Fears
Fear isn't bad or good. It's simply an instrument used
to protect us or keep us safe, but always playing it safe can also hinder one’s
growth. Identifying your fears can help to bring them to light so you can face
and overcome them. For example, you'd love to start a new business venture but
you're afraid of how and where to start.
It could be that you're afraid to start because you
failed in other business ventures. Or it could be that you don't see yourself
as the business type. It could be that some people have discouraged you and you
believe them more than you believe in yourself.
Whatever reason that's causing you to be afraid to start
something new, you need to identify the fear. This is a time when you need to
sit down by yourself and dig deeper into the matter.
It's a self-awareness technique you cultivate to enjoy
maximum growth. You'll have to bypass the surface and go down deeper. It would
also involve you asking yourself personal questions that may be triggering.
These questions could involve:
"Why am I
afraid?"
"What’s
causing me to limit myself?
“Am I getting
in my own way of starting?”
This and many more are questions you should ask
yourself when you're afraid to start something new. This isn't a time to just
think about the questions but write your answers down. It can help you to focus
your thoughts, identify your fears, and seek ways to manage and overcome them.

2. Develop A Growth Mindset
“Fear doesn't
exist anywhere else except in your mind” - Dale Carnegie.
The mind and your mindset are very powerful tools and
battlefields. Becoming a success all starts with your mindset. When starting something
new, your mind may be filled with doubts like:
" What if I fail?"
"What if the business doesn't succeed?"
"What if my weight loss goal journey doesn't work
out?"
It's normal for you to consider two sides of the coin.
But when you're more obsessed with the negative side other than the positive
side, it can become an issue.
So, instead of focusing on the negative, why not
consider:
"What if my business works and becomes
global?"
"What if changing this career is the next biggest
and the best thing for me?"
"What if I finally get my lean and dream body?"
You can never go further than where your mind reaches. So, shoot for the stars and aim high and wise!
3. Find Help
No one is devoid of seeking help. You may achieve your
goals faster or better when you have help rather than when you face it alone. Do
you have some fears concerning the goals and visions you aspire to achieve? Why
not get some help? It could be professional help like a lifestyle coach
advisor, mentor, or even your friends. It could be your family or someone who
proves themselves knowledgeable, reliable, and trustworthy.
4. Be Knowledgeable
Your fears may stem from a lack of information. You
can never know anything or everything from the start. Rather, you can learn as
you start and grow as you go. If you lack information on what you'd like to
start, first, get some basic information that will assist in your goal.
You can even join a business to get some background information on how you can start yours. You can meet other people that lost weight and find out some tips to start your fitness journey. Remember that no knowledge gained is ever totally useless.
5. Embrace Failure From Time To Time
"I have
not failed. I have found 10,000 ways that don't work." - Thomas Edison
You may not win every time and you'll have setbacks
sometimes. A major part of starting something new that you're afraid of is
learning to embrace failure. Thomas Edison was the man that invented the light
bulb. He failed a great many times before he finally got it right. Talk about
persistence and determination!

Failure is a crucial part of everyone's road to
becoming successful. You can't start something new and not expect to fail at
some point or occasionally. There are times when you may want to give up or it
seems your goals aren't manifesting. You may fall only to rise again and keep
going even if you must start over.
“You have to be able to accept failure to get better." - Lebron James
Fear is part of daily life. You may fear for the
future and what it holds for you. But fear shouldn't stop you from living your
dreams and accomplishing your goals. Rather, you should embrace fear and do
what you are most scared of.
Starting something new in any phase of your life is
enough to keep you up at night. The constant doubts, worries, and inferiority
complex can cripple you even before you start. It shouldn't make you fearful
but rather fearless. So, get going and do it, okay? And yes, do it while being afraid.
